Creative Director - Motion Design
The Creative Director will drive design-led work for high profile brands. You will oversee ideation and creative design treatments and work closely with clients and our team
In this role, you will spearhead the evolution and shaping of Nexus Studios’ approach to design, with a primary focus on motion design leadership. You will oversee and drive the growth of our design offering, working closely with Producers and EPs to lead creative treatments, and collaborating cross-departmentally to enhance design responses. You will also manage teams to ensure exceptional execution. Integrated into an existing creative team of department ECDs and CDs, this is a client-facing role that demands a strategic and business-minded approach to creativity.
A critical aspect of this role is leading Nexus Design Studio, our motion design division. You will be responsible for the creative response from brief to final delivery, tapping into the studio, roster of directors, and a growing collection of trusted executional creative leads to bridge design thinking and the work that we ultimately deliver to all our partners.
You will strengthen, refresh and innovate design thinking at Nexus Studios, and establish the design studio response as a firm, sought-after collaborator to our client and agency partners, as well as within the studio, with a shared team, culture, and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and develop creative and motion design solutions for branded identities, campaigns, and immersive/experience Design, etc. This will at times require a 24-48hr topline creative response for briefs from territories including West Coast US.
Be client facing; attending creative briefings, pitching concepts, and presenting work to clients. Promoting the Nexus Design Studio and Nexus.
From time to time creatively direct work yourself or oversee other people assigned to this role (see below). This will require you to manage several projects from start to finish at any one time, with varying levels of involvement (i.e. on a smaller project, a hybrid animation director/ operator may lead it but you will still oversee the work, and make sure it is hitting our creative standards). Where needed, strategise early on in the pitch process how to ensure a smooth handover to a project lead for the agency/ client.
Sign-off on projects before they are presented to the client - Ensure the quality of all deliverables is of the highest standard.
Build an environment for any creative team to work in and oversee their ideas and projects.
Helping to curate a team that meets the project needs - come with a black book of collaborators.
Develop and maintain a list of our go to freelancers and partners (with Creative/ Resourcing/ Prod).
This is an overarching CD role. Projects that come into Nexus may require an alternate Creative Director to work on a specific project or might be more suited to a Director. In this instance you will work with the creative team to assign someone from the Nexus talent pool.
Key Requirements:
Be ideas driven.
Be an excellent communicator, briefing and translating requirements and feedback between client and the team.
Have a flexible and "can do" attitude proactively looking at ways to improve creative processes and overall efficiency of the studio.
